Those of you who use easyboot for creating the boot-sector for your multi-boot CD might like to take a look at this.

I was looking through the installed folder of easyboot (C:\EasyBoot\resource), and found a batch-file called "wxp.bat". I believe they placed it there so that you could create your "BOOT" folder for your multi-boots quickly. Normally you need to extract the needed files from the boot-floppies downloaded from MS downloads, or run setup halfway-through to retrieve the needed files.

But now, just place wxp.bat in your CD's folder and run it to get all the required files out into that folder. You can then put all these files into another folder, call it PRO1 or PRO2 or whatever, and use it as your boot-folder (you still need to edit the setupldr.bin though). If your XP pro install folder is this:

AIO-CD\SETUP\XPPRO\

And you have your I386 folder inside that folder, just put wxp.bat in "\SETUP\XPPRO\" folder and run it to have all the needed files dumped in that folder.

Wo stop! I should warn you I had problem when I created my boot folder with this method.

the solution is included in this topic. Basically, I used GOSH method to get the proper boot folder.

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE WITH WINDOWS 2000 SP4 FRENCH

If I do a comparison between EasyBoot w2k.bat and the boot folder obtained from GOSH method, there is a few files missing:

c_1252.nl_
c_850.nl_
kbdfr.dll (probably kbden.dll for english version)
vga850.fo_

Copy theses files from your I386 folder (or modify the w2k.bat to do it for you)

I also have 4 empty signature files (with no extension) but I am not sure they are required. Create them as they doesn't exist in the I386 folder...

So with this method, you get a perfect boot folder.

I thought you had discovered some *MAJOR* problem. Well from what you say, there is not any problem with the *METHOD*. Just that the "wxp.bat" by easyboot was missing some file-names.

So just add the files that Incroyable HULK mentions, and all is fine.

The wxp.bat of easyboot is almost twice in size as the w2k.bat, it contains all the supported languages and codepages already! So you all can use that batch safely.

But: this batch copy too many files as needed, so use it with caution if you have too many OSs but not too much free space on your target CD/DVD.

(Official XP CD from Microsoft, no nLite, slipstream or other utility used)

I'll compare my boot folder (gosh method) against this wxp.bat and tell the result today...

in that thread you have not mentioned that you worked with wxp.bat, instead you said you've followed the guide - whitch guide led you to the wxp.bat? The AIO-DVD guide available pointed to run "winnt32.exe /noreboot" for boot files....

i have tried easyboot and could never understand it. far from 'easy'. i reckon the long way still rules, but i used balder multiboot last nite...superb !
