Adding WinRar extract context menus to file types

Featured Replies

Anyone know how (if its even possible) to add the extract context menu options to file types that arent included in WinRars preferences?

For example, sometimes I DL packages that starts with <filename>.001. But the only context menu I get is 'Add to archive...' and not 'Extract to here' like I do with rar and zips. The only way I can extract these files is by opening winrar and doing it manually.

Thanks!

You can try this:

Install winrar first (important), and then run the following from a batch-file:

assoc .001=WinRAR
assoc .002=WinRAR
assoc .any=WinRAR

These are just examples, of course. Please tell whether it worked or not. :)

hmm that does not seem to work, it still only gives the add to ... options, however when you double click it, it opens in winrar..

Well, that takes the task half-way across. :)

After that, you can use "Extract To" from winrar's interface.

But yes, if there's any other simple solutions, I'd like to know too.

as would i, i havent really had the time 2 check it myself cuz of my hrs of work :)
