never had a problem with Firefox.. until today..

*grr.. i should've posted this in the Software forum... sorry wasn't thinking*

I go to download an exe file and it just shows a white screen.. no download option... I check the Options -> downloads -> Filetypes and theres nothing in the list...

it does this on most file types.. exe, zip, wmv, mpg, etc....

I can download in internet explorer though.. *after i get rid of all the popups that is :P *

*EDIT* i've tried to remove the mozilla folder in C:\Documents and Settings\Phil\Application Data\

and when i start it again it shows the import or don't import anything dialog box taht came up when firefox was first installed.. and the file type list was still empty...

had a similar problem when upgrading from 0.9.3 to 1.0PR. the values you want are stored in the registry (i guess), reinstall/uninstall didn't work for me.

you can try to run "firefox.exe /p" that would show the profile manager so try to create a new profile from there (no instances of firefox must be running). if that didn't solve the problem you'll need to deep search the reg.

Get IE6 you won't get any problems like that

:P  ;)

I can feel the flames now!  :thumbup

Yep, instead you'll have twice as many bugs - that can't be fixed by reinstalling (not like there is an option to uninstall IE either unfortunately). And you'll also have nice spyware and other scum on your PC. How nice? That was like the stupidest thing I had read here for a while.

ROFL... IE6.... people still use that? newest Bug cameout for IE6.. all i have to do is put <TakeOverComputer> in a webpage and i can control your computer

@SiMoNsAyS

Thanks i'll try that now. if i do find it in the registry i'll post it up here for future refrences

@TomcaT here ya go read about this new flaw in IE... its a flaw with Jpeg image files that allow a "malicious coder" to install a trojan horse on your computer just by you opening a picture... hows that for flawed?

CNET Windows Jpeg Flaw

However... Windows SP2 isn't vulnerable to the flaw.... I personally hate SP2... and will not be installing it cause of a flaw in windows... My Webcam and some of my programs don't work under SP2 so i'm sticking with SP1.

hmm..... simple solution...

uninstall FireFox

Reinstall FireFox

*another feature of Firefox.. if it breaks just uninstall and reinstall and it works perfect again..i'd like to see any Internet Explorer user do that...*
