The_ZoRo Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 HelloI would like to hear your oppenions about the following firewalls:Smoothwall, Censornet, IPCop and m0n0wall/ZoRo
knight_dkn Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 Of those four I'd say smoothwall is the best, it's secure, well built and has lots of add on modules. As for IPCop, well... you'd have a harder time getting into a packet of chips. In general remeber that their all based around a linux kernel so if you want to stay secure, update, update, update! One other solution is FREESCO, it's a small open source router / firewall that is lots of fun and very felxable. It's not up there with the big boys, but it's not bloated with junk either which makes it easier to secure, very effective in the right hands.
The_ZoRo Posted October 28, 2004 Author Posted October 28, 2004 In general remeber that their all based around a linux kernel so if you want to stay secure, update, update, update!Okay, do you have any other suggestions for a firewall, since you, as far as i read it, don't like the linux ones?/ZoRo
tacticus85 Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 no from what i read he just says you have to keep them updated clark connect is nice havent played with it recently thoughsmoothwall is brilliant though just make sure you run the auto update feature
The_ZoRo Posted October 28, 2004 Author Posted October 28, 2004 Okay... I applogise, I just "overread" sometimes. And Clark Connect.. Another one to support /ZoRo
