buletov
preamble: my setup is two raptors in working stripped mode (windows running).----------------here is my unattended setup issue:so, if i have both si3112 and si3112r drivers integrated (like in massstorage driver pack), on abit nf7 board, si3112r controller is detected in wrong mode, instead as a si3112r, it is detected as a si3112; both hard-drives are visible (instad of only one, since it's in stripped mode), and if i try to install on the first one, windows reports an access error. if i remove si3112 drivers and leave only si3112r, it works ok.so the question is: if i remove si3112 driver, will si3112r support setups where it would only one disk (not raid) on a generic si3112 adapter? (since the drivers are quite similar)...
big poppa pump
I am not sure if I understood your question. Are you asking if the si3112r controller will support single drives on each channel seperately rather than raiding them together? If thats the case then the answer is Yes! Bâshrat the Sneaky
No, he's asking if the SiI3112 RAID drivers also work for the SiI3112 non-RAID...And I doubt this, why would they else make different drivers? But if someone could test this?Bâshrat the Sneaky
buletov
well, as i see it, if si3112 recongnizes drives attached on si3112r controller, si3112r should recognize these on si3112. and since there will be no raid setup, windows should not report an error.any chance to contact silicon graphics about this? mark49
because there'r same HD.ids both in the newest 3112/3112r drivers![HardwareIds.SCSI.Si3112_XP]id = "PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3512&SUBSYS_02B71014", "Si3112"id = "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_436E&SUBSYS_436E1002", "Si3112"id = "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4379&SUBSYS_43791002", "Si3112"id = "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_437A&SUBSYS_437A1002", "Si3112"[HardwareIds.SCSI.Si3112r_XP]id = "PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3512&SUBSYS_02B71014", "Si3112r"id = "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_436E&SUBSYS_436E1002", "Si3112r"id = "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4379&SUBSYS_43791002", "Si3112r"id = "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_437A&SUBSYS_437A1002", "Si3112r"i think setup searched first string for 3112,then recognized to 3112 stead of 3112r,so..i guess use these only for 3112R maybe better . would you help to try it? thanks. Bâshrat the Sneaky
I think we will have to try if the SiI3112 SATARAID driver also supports the SiI3112 SATA Link controller... I'm currently working on a huge update for DriverPack MassStorage, which (currently only partly) switches to the textsetup.oem method. If someone sees the light, please let me know, but I don't see any method to determine which driver should be used when we're stuck with 2 identical DeviceIDs...For those who didn't know yet, this article may be interesting. It includes the statement that you should use the BASE drivers when you are using a single disk, even when you're using the SATARAID controller!Bâshrat the Sneaky
freshy98
I can confirm to the non-raid drivers being picked first. What I did was just remove the non-raid drivers and lines.@buletov, contacting Silicon Graphics (SGI) doesn't make much sence since they didn't do the chip. They make Visual Workstations/Servers and Supercomputers. You are referring to Silicon Image ;-)
skybl4ck
hmm.. i might have the same error you have. I myself only have one harddrive but I think my windows install is thinking of the drivers as SATALink instead of Raid.
buletov
i think at least the following line should be removed from txtsetup.sif in bashrat packs:PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_436E&SUBSYS_436E1002 = "si3112"since PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_436E&SUBSYS_436E1002 = "si3112r"exists. skybl4ck
would it be possible to just remove any line containing 3112 in txtsetup.sif and leaving the 3112r?
Bâshrat the Sneaky
Sure, but the problem might be that it won't install on a SiI3112 SataLink controller (a non-raid one)
