running a shell?

Featured Replies

Has anyone gotten a shell to run on 2004PE?

I have tried the docs that stated the ini file but no good.....still a cmd prompt?

Hey twindude.

Make sure:

-that your INI file is called winpeshl.ini

-that it lives in the system32 directory of your winpe image

-that it has just one [launchapp] header

-that it has just one key -- AppPath = "%pathto%\myshell.exe"

Also make sure that you're running winpe 2004 (the ini file method won't work with older winpe images.)

is there a tool out there to convert the inf or xml or ini file to a reg setting..

so that the plugins will load in WinPE?

X86 was working on one but, it has been deayed. INF's are not that hard to decompile more over just time consuming.

@likuidkewl

I understand the time thing...........

but I can't seem to get my default desktop Icons or the plugins to work...some show and some don't

using pe2004 + BS_Explorer (both are pretty new)

I have been working in the other forum as well and have added different reg entries into inf files but they still don't show up on the desktop....

only the ones that show up are the ones I create in the ini file...
