Hi, Im new at this and I have a question. I would like to make a folder on my computer where I can put emails that need to be saved. My question is, how do I create a file? Any one have the answer or a link to where I might find the answer?

Thanks

Hmm, you ask how to create a folder, then ask how to create a file. It's not really clear. You can right click anywhere and make files and folders in explorer (or your desktop). There's many many ways to do that... email wise, it would help a lot if you told us what email client you're using (or is it webmail?). We need to know more.

I use aol. What happened is I am now in charge of a group called Hopewell Junction Citizens for Clean Water. I get many important emails and would like to put them in files instead of leaving them on aol. In aol you can lose your stuff-something I learned the hard way. Thank you.

u need 2 give a lil bit more info still, are u wanting 2 backup your emails from a email program like outlook or thunderbird? or copy them from the web 2 a file & just put them in a folder (hard way IMO)

I was wondering if AOL didn't have some sort of proprietary email system? Not sure, I've never seen it...

With aol, the only way to do it would be to copy and paste the email, perhaps in notepad, and then put that into a file. Say I have a file called waterissues, I would like to make a folder in that and put certain emails into it. Is that enough info? Im doing the best I can. Thanks again and thanks for the next time.

You could always copy and paste the email into Word then name it whatever you wanted and save it to a directory structure that you create on your hard drive. I am not a AOL fan so I am not sure how they do things. But it seems to me that if they are important emails the only way to be sure that they are saved is to make a copy on your hard disk and then back them up. Or print them out and file them  Ouch!

I hope this helps,

AOL is a big piece of crap, and I'm supprised that the idiots that designed it are even making a profit.

here here.

i recommend you getting an email acct that you can download into outlook express or similar email client. that will allow you to backup emails in the event of a system failure.
