For the same hardware, WinXP would take up more resources for mostly cosmetic reasons (alpha transparency, menu shadows, etc.) So if you have the extra cpu cycles to spare, WinXP is an interesting experience.

If you experiement a lot with new software/ utilities/ shareware, you will welcome WinXP's System Restore feature. However, that calls for a conscious and well-disciplined testing mentality.

Win2K is the last version of Microsoft product that does not require product activation, and has decent to excellent hardware drivers available. So if you are experimenting with many different hardware or planning to upgrade hardware very often, Win2K is the best version to keep.

I'm not quite sure what the vote is asking us...is it asking us what our fav server os is and what our fav workstation os is?

It really depends on the computer's stats, on a slower, older system 2k is the best but if you can handle XP without slowing down your computer too much, go for it!

I have to Choose XP pro as thats what I'm using and supporting, and therefore know the best at the moment.

If you dont keep your "hand in" with a product you can quickly forget.

Agree, I install & uninstall to experiment free babes & shareways often. It still stands. Of course, you need some 3rd party sw to keep it on top performance.

CAD (Computer Aided Design or Graphix Design) - 2000 Pro

less system resource running the interface and more for the software
