Here is the Setup

Server --> Windows XP Prof SP2

Client -->

2 Windows 98 Se

2 Windows XP Home Edition

1 Windows XP Prof SP1

3 Windows XP Prof SP2

Before i used Windows XP Prof SP1 to share Internet connection using ICS and all the client can access the net smoothly...

Problem:

None of the client machine can't access the net

But they can share files and printer including the server

I tried to ping all the machine and all can communicate except they cant use the internet

I disable the firewall in the Server side (windows SP2) but since all the machine cant access the internet..

I know there are some settings in the firewall section since it is integrated in SP2, but I admit i am a newbie in SP2.

Can someone please help me how to fix my problem.... Btw sorry im not good in english....

This may seem silly to ask but did you make sure the Windows Internet Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service was running and set to automatic. Also you could attempt to rerun the network wizard by going to a run command and typing in inetwiz. Although I doubt this will help out. Any further information on what settings were changed would help out.

I have ICS running on my sp2 machine and my xbox uses the ICs to connect to the net....works just fine. Id just make u have the proper settings, for instance if your doing it through a switch, make sure the comp has a static ip set on the nic card.

On client computers enter DNS adresses of your ISP..

I checked all the settings, I set the Windows Internet Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing to automatic. Also im using Static Address (DHCP) and the ISP dont have a DNS IP

On your XP machine, go to a command prompt and type "ipconfig /all".

There should be a section called DNS Servers. If there's nothing listed there, I don't see how anything would work on the internet.

i had the same problem, just set on the client computer the dns servers of your internet connection and you're done.

Had a similar problem:

The XP ICS server is on 192.168.0.1

set all clients' static IP to

192.168.0.2

192.168.0.3

etc

then clients' gateway to 192.168.0.1

once u reboot u should be online..at least here it works this way
