KB833407 unacceptable symbols

Recommended Posts

if I remember correctly, they removed botht he Nazi and Star of David from the font set, because people got offended when they were placed next to eachother in the font mapping......

Now seriously, who goes through the font mapping looking for this stuff? And why did Microsoft list it as a CRITICAL hotfix, when all it is is a font file....

They probably listed it as critical because you could get yourself in a lot of trouble with a Nazi symbol in some places. Think about schools in the US, with their zero tolerance policies towards discrimination and racism.

THen they alone should ban themselves. Naziism is still around today, though not in the same form. As such, they shouldn't ban it. It's all technicallities.

You're right, but some people just get really sensitive. Plus, I read somewhere that some countries have outlawed Nazi symbols, if the font was included in non US versions.
