Woomera Posted September 22, 2004 Share Posted September 22, 2004 hi allwhen i try to install sp2 it says that YOURE KERNEL FILES ARE NOT MICROSOFT VERSION or somethin like that.i just have kaspersky and outpost , even when i shut down all the processes i still have the problem.anyone knows why and how can i fix it? radhus Posted September 22, 2004 Share Posted September 22, 2004 Are you using any customized bootscreen?Check you boot.ini;You should have something like this if you are using a bootscreen;multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /FASTDETECT /kernel=kernel1.exeDelete the /kernel tag and reboot IMPORTANT!!, Be sure that you have a copy of the working boot.iniIf you can not start windows after the change, Start your XP-CD, press R (i think) to start the Recovery Console, and replace boot.ini with the old, working one!btw: your boot.ini might be Write Protected (bad english?), change that before editing =DGood luck!
