sven Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 ok, Gamehead gave me an old hard drive today (2 gig, crashes every 20 minutes). so i, being the mechanical guy i am, wanted to take it apart.#1 : have the right tools. these were those annoying hexadecimal screwes.... dont have the right tools#2 : when something doesn't open, use brute force. i got out a hammer, and started beating the crap out of this thing. of couse, all it does it dent it.#3 : take out a drill, put in a bit the size of the screw head, and just drill the hell out of those screwes. keep this up until teh head is completly removed from all screwed. i screwed up and drilled off the screw, and into the hard drive. nice experience.#4 : get some plyers, and try to split the drive open. for it in, and pull the two sides appart. eventualy, the drive will split, and you'll have 2 pieces.ill get pictures later when i can. when attempting this, please use proper eye protection, and you do this at your own risk. you can not reverse this.
