HI ALL,

is it possible to disable the product activation process in an XP CD??? i was thinking about using make cab on the WPA.dbl file after the initial installation & activation so that the modified file can be integrated to a windows source on a CD... CAN THIS WORK???

help me out here guys....

thnks in advance.... :)

If you have a license, it should be possible for you to get it activated. Then, just place WPA.DBL in "$OEM$\$$\System32\OOBE" for use the next time you install (to have it pre-activated). This doesn't in any way DISABLE activation - its only doing it automatically for you.

That's all. Why do you want to complicate it?

hey sorry abt that doggie....didnt know i broke the rulz...

and nolookingca...what do u mean files from one system doesnt work on others??

im not talkin abt modifiying anything from this CD....just that a duplicated CD of the original does not work.....

@naji, what nolookingca it's trying to say it's that your wpa.dbl it's hardware dependant and it prevents to activate your product in a different hardware profile, so if you don't use that file on the same machine it won't work.

Oh!! is that right.... i got a bit confused becuz i was talkin abt two different issues here....

so the wpa.dbl is hardware dependant... :o ****!!!

i also have a version of Windows XP that does not require activation... can i still find one that does not require this process...or does all the latest XP cds come with the activation feature???

Well, the retail CD has some copy-protection in the newer packaged ones. Also, the reason its not working might be simple - the boot-sector, lol.

Hey parathapml....i duplicated the original using a CD duplicator....i thought this process duplicates an exact image of the source.....inculiding the boot sector

and i didnt say i had a problem with booting up from this CD....but setup terminates after copying the files.... :P
