I would just like to express my disgust towards spam....I HATE IT WITH A PASSION!

A month ago my uncle's PC got infected with it and instead of wiping out the pc for a 3rd time in a year i decided to try to get rid of those pesky things....man it's time consuming. Being that he's my uncle I took my time and had his PC in my house for a whole week trying to figure it all out....from what apps to use, which one cleans what, what's on the startup, what's on the registry, what cant be deleted from the registry cause' it "regenerates" itself, and why in the hell can HE be more carefull.

Fine, I receive a call from a previous customer of mine (on the side job to fix pc's! :)) and tells me that she cant browse when she logs in to AOL (dialup) because she gets pop up heaven which slows down her net (again, dialup!:)). So I figure, fine I've learned the way of the JEDI in using the right apps and cleaning a PC filled with junk, I am no longer a young PADAWAN... So I get there; installed AdawareSE & spybot.....Adaware found 737 freaking threats on her machine....WHO THE HELL IS THAT CARELESS?!?!?....oh I forgot....USERS!!!! Then spybot found some more, then cwshredder found a home page registry issue, then hijackthis still showed some reg entries that wouldnt go away, then the apps would find more stuff if scanned in safe mode, updated norton with latest definitions and it would not find viruses or trojans (btw, I hate their trojan adware detection, hope they fix it with NAV2k5). Eventually somehow, 4 hours later I was able to get everything out of that system...and AOL dialup was back to heaven (if you can say the word HEAVEN and DIALUP in the same sentence! :)). Needless to say I was there from 5:30p to 9:00p on a monday night, stressed out, couldnt really say "hey let me take the PC to my house", and missed the 1st half of the Marlins game (GO FISH!). Then I feel compelled in charging her about 100 bones for the ordeal because she's referred people to me and I get home all frustrated to only catch the last 3 innings of the FISH game (at least we won 6-4 to NYM!).

*SIGH* So that's it, just a little venting brought to you by spyware and adaware, "if you think that spyware is right for you then ask your doctor about it!"

Thanks for reading,

Ceez

I feel EXACTLY the same way lol, don't know how many times i've had too install AdAware and Spybot on my aunts and uncles computers and then they call me askin whats wrong.. i tell them too run adaware and spybot and they're like "whats that..." I tell them how too run it and they have uninstalled it.. or they've never ran it. I end up spending about 3-5 hours deleting CRAP and fixing the registry running antivirus scandisk and defragmenter..

its just p***es me off when i tell them Don't click Ok on anything and they go right on ahead and click Ok on those ActiveX things... although my uncle has learned not too do that again lol, he got a porn one that dialed 1-900 numbers and he got a hefty 570 dollar bill. I told him what caused it and now hes clicking cancel lol.

Normal People = Stupid when it comes too computers

*EDIT* wow... p***es is in the filter....

Spam is a pain we all agree...

But heres a few neat little tricks !

Set up a dummy email account, then use that fow all the spam, junk etc.

If your e-mail allows auto forwarding, then find the spam that has a function to reply to unsubscribe, and use the unsubscribe addy to forward to rest of your junk to !

It works a treat!

lol
