Service Pack 1

Featured Replies

Couple of quick questions... (Propably already answered but you know me :) )

1. Will it have seperate service packs for Home and Pro?

2. How will it be downlaoded?! Will Windows Update automatically pick it up or will we require to download it from MS's site?! (Prefer downloading it from the site i think, lol... See the speed then  )

I need to know so i can sort out some time to download this for both my Home and Pro comp or download once and send over network, either way i aint bothered :D

you will need to download seperate SP1 for home and pro. You will be able to download in 2 ways - a small installer that will look at your system and only download the pieces you haven;t already installed in the way of Windows Updates. You will have to maintain your internet connection during the install as the pieces needed will be downloaded as needed. 2nd choice will be called an administrator download - and will download the 'whole thing'. This will be a bigger download - but will allow you to copy to a CD and reinstall should you have to go the Format and Reinstall path. Most of us on this board will choose the 2nd option I would bet:-)

Yeah, thanks for that LS. I think i will go for the Admin pack just incase of a format etc blah blah and it will have everything on it.

Cheers.

Another good thing is you can slipstream the 'admin' SP1 (aka Network Install) into your Windows XP CD, so whenever you format, you can install your OS from the CD and it will have SP1 installed already.

Bink will have a guide of his slipstreaming process for WinXP SP1 as soon as SP1 goes final.

Wal,that's just my way,haha.

'cause i'm a lazy man.

I already integrated Win2k sp3 to Win2k installlation folder and burnt to a CD-R.

Waiting for official Sp1 release.......
