August 21, 200422 yr "multicasting an image of 113GB to 120 computers"113 GIGABYTES??? that's a HUGE image. Aer you sure it's that big? lol Multicasting that even on gigabit would take quite a while...There's ways to automate mass appling registry tweaks to every PC, but I don't think there is a way to apply fixes without booting them first.
August 21, 200422 yr What you want to get past is your idea of "Not booting into Windows". That's why I had you pull the network cable prior to the first boot. Your registry edits will take effect on the second boot when your network cable is plugged back in, thus avoiding network addressing and licensing conflicts. You walk around to each machine twice, but this is an efficient loop because each machine needs time to initialize anyway. Your floppies are labeled with the machine that they are for, this is because you'll be doing this over and over for individual machines as specific machines get messed up by your customers. By the way, I have actually done this many times. One warning: some machines will fail to take the multicast the first time for unknown reasons. Usually a second session will pick up the failures just fine.
August 22, 200422 yr Author Thanks man (beenthereb4) for the tip....i use a super computer with 2gbit card, and 4 gig of ram, connected to sisco switch and i never had clients rejected my sessions. That is a session of 117 gigs, which takes about 2 hours to multicast Anyway i must do these changes to computers in less than a min for each client......If u have any ideas please let me know....thanks anywayJAMES
