dbasinge Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 How do I stop the movie that runs during setup portion of the install from running.Mike
Skyfrog Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 I guess you mean Windows Me. I didn't have that very long and fortunately my shiny new Radeon card wasn't recognized by it so it was unable to play that stupid movie. I'll look around though and see if I can find a way to disable it.
xolox Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 If you ARE talking about Windows XP, then you probably didn't use an answer file... Or did you? If so, post it, and I can see what's missing.
gamehead200 Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 What movie? There is no movie that runs during setup... The only things close enough that I would think that you are talking about is the point where XP checks to see if you have Internet access and sets up your usernames (if you're not doing an unattended install or you just want it there) or the Windows XP Tour.
Skyfrog Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 I bet that's what he means, the Windows XP Tour. Here's how to stop it:;Disables Windows Tour Bubble Popup[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Tour]"RunCount"=dword:00000000[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Tour]"RunCount"=dword:00000000
xolox Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 Guys, I don't know what kind of installation you've got, but I have a movie... It's only 10 seconds or something, but it sure is a movie. Avi, BAD compression . Just before you get the screen which "invites" you to setup you pc, you see a swirling Windows XP logo, and you hear the music coming up that plays during the last part of the setup. And I really think that's waht he means. Anyways, he'll tell us what kind of a movie it is...
prathapml Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 But I still don't get what he means by "movie" which runs "during" setup.Bcos Windows Tour in XP, and 2k, both run *AFTER* setup. It is so in WinME/98 as well!@dbasinge-I hope you're talking about Windows XP. If so, then:1. are you talking about the balloon which pops up asking if you want to take the "windows tour" after setup? then use Skyfrog's suggestion.2. Do you mean the ads/bill-boards during setup which act as the back-ground, (and are annoying to some people) which talk about how good XP is, what its features are, and what a good decision you have made to use XP, etc.?3. Or what xolox says?If you are talking about xolox says, then there's no real way to disable it, other than to use nLite (WXP install CD shrinker) to remove OOBE. The others can confirm if there's any other way.

dbasinge Posted August 12, 2004 Author Posted August 12, 2004 Nevermind, I got it fixed:).Thanks all,Mike
eagle00789 Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 just before the questionmark, there is a movie showing. (atleast on my pc to). it is a movie wich states windows xp and a waving flag in white. the file he means is i386\intro.wm_ (it's packed, but that's the movie he means)
gamehead200 Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 Oh, that movie! Its been a while since I installed XP, so I guess I forgot about it...
xolox Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 Good to know you got it sorted out Mike!ps. eagle00789 and I are talking about the same thing here, and where both Dutch. So maybe it's the Dutch distribution?! Sounds weird to me, but I can't think of any reason why everyone else wouldn't notice that their screen is filled with moving pictures .... It sure is there! An no, gamehead200, it's NOT the questionmark ...... I was talking about a movie(clip)... Not a crappy animation as that questionmark or a search-assistent. I know the differenceEdit: I should post a little faster... gamehead200 seems to remember the clip
bmill99 Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 Nevermind, I got it fixed:).Thanks all,MikeHow? I would like to know.
`Felix` Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 Nevermind, I got it fixed:).Thanks all,MikeI Know the one you mean - i have it on some of my installs also - how did you fix it?
benners Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 In you winnt.sif file use this[Unattended] FactoryMode=yes I use this to bypass the intro.wmv, or you could create your own wmv file and personalize it
