I've managed to enable the Quick Launch bar using the registry keys people have provided. How can I now expand it so I can see all the icons I've copied in?

I don`t really have an answer to your question, but the thing i am curious about is how the hell did you get the Quick Launch Bar to start from the registry . I have been looking for a regkey to fix this but i couldn`t find one.

Please let me know how you fixed this.

Enabling the Quick Launch Toolbar

As a matter of fact YES I HAVE!!

After several weeks with Microsoft, we came up with a solution.

1. Load windows without enabling the quicklaunch bar

2. Enable the quicklaunch bar and slide the Quick Launch Bar to the desired size

3. logoff, then logon with the same account again (assumed to be Admin account)

4. Save out the following key.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Desktop]

"TaskbarWinXP" -- if you are running SP1 or

"Taskbar" -- for all versions of XP

Copy the above key value to these keys:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Desktop]

"Default Taskbar"

"Default Taskbar (Personal)"

5. Add this to you 13 min reg tweak and the quicklaunch bar will be added with you custimized settings

what gets put in the regtweak? all 4? or just HKLM. have you tested this on a new install, im just wondering because everyone has been saying its the HKCU key.

Absolutely I have tested this and using it even today...

I add it to the 13 min mark and the quick launch bar is enabled for all users.

just as another note, this key (TaskbarWinXP) also controls alot of other things for the taskbar. Height, Toolbar placements, and even OTHER toolbars. I have 2 bars that load with my system everytime I install. Sure you gotta keep the paths the same, but the bars are created.

can you describe that in a little more detail?

If that's important: I'm using WinXP SP2.

as you can see on my Desktop (warning: 1600x1200) I have two toolbars on the right side.

In HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Desktop

there are "Taskbar" "TaskbarWinXP" "Toolbars" (all with binary values) and "Upgrade" (DWORD set to 1)

which do I have to reimport to get the bars back?

in a clean SP2 Slipstreamed install I don't have the "Taskbar" at all...

why ?
