How do i configure so that my windows xp can auto-login?

Using registry code:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

;logs in user "User_Name" the first time
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"DefaultUserName"="User_Name"
"DefaultPassword"="password"
"AutoAdminLogon"="1"

Copy and paste the above into notepad, and save as "auto-login.reg". Of course, edit the User_Name and password to what your real ones are. Then, double-click on the .reg to import the key into your registry. Now, it will auto-login from the next boot onwards.

please use WIN+R,

at the RUN:enter "control userpasswords2"

then,you know what to do

yes, but this will only work if you're using local system accounts. If you're logging on the domain this setting won't work, because you'll use domain policy, so in that case prathapml's solution is better..
