zup peeps, i was just curious if there's a way that i can stream videos that i download to my pc (WINXP_PRO) so i can watch them in another pc without re-downloading the whole file to that pc. Can I also do this with mp3's???

I thought of setting up an ftp server at home but it wont stream, it actually starts to download!?!??! :)

have you tried setting up a network, and having a network share?

This works perfectly. Just setup a network share with READ access only and you should be able to stream video files without a problem. The only disadvantage of doing this is that it may slow down your network by a bit! :)

You could create an iso of the video and mount that on a virtual drive which you have access to across the network

On the other pc just map the path to that drive or folder.

Good luck

thanks for all your input.... but i guessi should of specified just a bit more...i want to stream video or audio over the internet. connect from my friends pc to my pc at my house and be able to stream w/out having to download the files.

i hope that the server version is not the only way!?!? :)

i know, but you can view it while you're downloading the file to a temp folder. but when i try it i actually have to download the full file and then listen OR view it.

Its a known fact that winamp can listen to streamed audio - no add-ons required at the client side, just a plug-in (200 KB) required at the "streamer source" site.

As for video, I don't know what you could do other than what I suggested above.
