July 19, 200422 yr I am trying to share folders on my Windows XP machine.I have simple file sharing enabled. And when I go to a folder to share, and I select Sharing and Security, the entire page is grayed out.Is there a registry, Service, or some kind of setting I may have disabled?

July 21, 200422 yr Maybe u don't have admin privileges...dont know if this would effect this from happening.
July 21, 200422 yr You dont need admin rights to share,you can share if you created the folder or a member of a group that has been given permission to share such as the power users.Have you tried creating a new folder and then sharing it??
July 23, 200422 yr Check to make sure (in the properties of your network adapter) that File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks hasn't been uninstalled or omitted. I've had this problem before, and I think that worked.

I've had this problem before, and I think that worked.I checked the file and print sharing like you suggested.The properties option wasn't available. As you see, properties isn't availableSo I clicked on Install..I'm exactly sure of my steps from here...
July 30, 200422 yr try this...1.remove this tweak reg from your PC.;Disable Hidden Shares at Startup[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters]"AutoShareWks"=dword:000000002.reboot and try again..
