Why am I getting this error when running XPCREATE

Error: "8.3 File name support not enabled."

Press Enter to Exit.

OMG!!

i ask this yesterday too.... it is standard set on "0" was told me.... (i am sure it isnt)

do u have use tweak.reg with that key?

Trying to say this in the nicest possible way.... why don't you THINK for once?

8.3 is on by default. Do yourself a favour, format, and find out yourself.

As for this "tweak", there's an export function in regedit. I'll leave it up to you to figure out how to put 2 and 2 together.

Alright, enough from me. *wanders off to do soemthing a heck of a lot more important*

he's probally seen you're last few posts SolidasRock.

and actually yes, I would like to see ALL your regtweaks. Inluding any you have added to your hive files.

How do I know you say that it is set to 0 by default?

HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem","NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation",0x00010003,0

This line is in HIVESYS.INF in your I386 folder. You do change it somewhere.

I see the tweak in your files SolidasRock

;-------------------------------------NTFS TWEAKS-----------------------------

;NTFS Speed-up
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem]
"NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate"=dword:00000001
"Win95TruncatedExtensions"=dword:00000001
"NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation"=dword:00000001

Wish to restate some of our statements about disabling them? :)

I'm sorry, I'm just sick of people that don't even try looking for an answer as to why something is happening, and expect the answer given to them on a plate.

Enough of a "rant", I've had my say.

Time to do some work....

ok, i understand.... but i have use search at error: 8.3 support is not enabled. the search show matches and i read the first pair topic at the top and dont see anything about my searchkey, even nothing is colored yellow and black. i try change the searchkey to support is not enabled. same result. i try 8.3 and get an error from search. so i give up and try looking at GM site. i found nothing so i open a topic.

but after a time i try again the search and dont use the topic on the top but at the lower end and yes, there was a match and i have find my solution.

i have posted this in a other topic [click]a few days ago search dont work properly for me. someone replie to me to put the searchkey between " " i try again and get a error again... so i really give up.

i have experience with the search on other forums but here it works strangly for me.... i dont know what i do wrong.....

but ok i am sorry too.....
