not to be a kill joy, but have you seen the setupmgr.exe tool in deploy.cab.

did you have to kill it before me? blast it all, I'm getting slow....

Unless you make it so people just input a command line and it writes the batch file for RunOnceEX or standard batch file, why would people use this? I wouldn't even use the making of the setup script myself, but some noobs might.

Yup, just extract DEPLOY.CAB and inside you will find SETUPMGR.EXE

Also in DEPLOY.CAB u will find REF.CHM, this contains other useful info for creating your WINNT.SIF file.

I think that he might be talking about an "on the fly" type thing.

This is usefull in a WinPE/BartsPE environment. Also could be useful in a DOS unattended setup as AutoIT can be compiled into an exe, but have not tried this.

Also, setupmgr.exe obviously didn't have much thought put into it. For one, it can't decide if it's a wizard or a regular application. It starts up and exists funny. Finally, it doesn't give you all the options available during unattended installs.

An application that does this better might be nice.

it was never meant to give all the options, but to provide an easy interface to create the basic one.

Would you prefer radio buttons on the first couple pages, instead of the wizard opening?
