Lebanese_007 Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 Hi all,I'm just wondering, after releasing SP1 and SP2 and the whole thing about firewall, making sure the update feature is turned on, and virus program in on, is it enough if we relay on windows firewall, is it as safe as zone alarm, or Norton firewall?
MCT Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 i wouldnt exactly call norton or ZA a good firewall, but thats me the windows XP SP2 firewall is sposed 2 be good for MOST End Users (personally i havent tested it) if u want a good software firewall other then the ones stated above, i would try kerio... its free, but after 30days u lose the cookie filtering & ad Blocking (which most browsers have now anyways)regards
XtremeMaC Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 for easy of use either choose zonealarm or mcaffee with sp2 firewall u don't really know what's going on. to me it just enables certain programs to access the internet..
jdoe Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 The problem of XP firewall is it don't block all outgoing traffic. For a good free firewall ZoneAlarm is doing a very good job.
dancity Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 ahh! Nortons suck but thats only i can grab at the moment and it does job simply put.
DragonPark Posted July 9, 2004 Posted July 9, 2004 Ive been using norton for a while without many problems, other than that its bloated. Ive had plenty of problems with zonealarm though. Constantly crashes my computer as soon as it started.
