Hello everyone.

Greetings from Portugal!

This is my first post here in this great forum.

I'm having a problem here when trying to use diskpart in WinPE.

I'm using a RIS Server and network booting to call WinPE.

After I do this i call Diskpart at command-prompt. The problem is that i get this erro:

The disk management services could not complete the operation.

Can someone help me on this one?

How are you booting WinPE via LAN, PE CD, or PE on the HD? I am kind of confused.

If I get what you are saying you are booting off the lan copying the Pe files to the HD and then trying to run diskpart?

I've created an image of WindowsXP for a RIS server. Then I copied the \i386 folder from WinPE CD to the \i386 folder of WindowsXP in RIS server.

Then I boot from lan using the PXE protocol that is available with RIS.

I got the same result (The disk management services could not complete the operation.) after I slipstreamed Windows XP Service Pack 2 RC2 (build 2149) into my SP1-ified I386 source folder and rebuilt the Windows PE image. It would appear that something changed between SP1 and SP2 that breaks DISKPART.

If this describes your situation, I suggest you revert to an SP1-based I386 and rebuild Windows PE again.

I have submitted a bug to Microsoft on this.

FYI...

PE 1.5 (not officially out yet) has full support for Xp SP2.

PE 1.2 was not designed to be able to build a XP SP2 cd.

I don't think submitting a bug to MS will get very far because of the physical support for the versions as I described above.

PE 1.6 is the version that you will need for Win2k3 Server SP1. That version has been delayed.
