Alanoll
Another thing that I don't quite understand is that why does xpctest attempts to download all the updates when only some of them applies? For example, by checking the unattended forum and the hotfix list, it tells me to use only a fraction of the hotfixes that xpctest downloads. Why is that?that list is the CRITICAL updates, where as XPCREATE has the download of ALL updates that are listed by WU and MSBA (minus the Networking Update of course)
GreenMachine
XPCTEST looked good enough to release as XPCREATE. At least that way I should get more testers! To be clear: all downloadable versions of XPCREATE are the latest (9 JUNE 2004), which includes the AutoUpdate feature. AutoUpdate is on by default. If this is not desired, please edit the XPCREATE.INI file, as outlined on the Web Site.
mdes
Hi everybody, I'm back writing In XPCREATE (09 JUN 2004), while asking to CDERASE, an EXIT is missing at the created batch end (XPCTCDIM.CMD)

belkin
New here. I used XPCTEST last week and found it worked great. Wouldn't download SP1 but I had it already and just inserted in proper file. I've noted one not to troublesome problem, the CD it created will not run the Check System Compatability. I get a "Network Component Upgrade" error saying "Error reading information from netmap.inf. Setup cannot continue" This only seems to effect that function of the CD. An install to a new hard drive was flawless. Any ideas on a fix? (though not real important)Rick
GreenMachine
Welcome, belkin, to MSFN!Never heard of that, but I can't say as I've ever actually tried it myself ... I would thnk that function is NOT in the I386 part of the CD. The other parts are not touched by XPCREATE itself, though SP1 may update files there. The best test would be to either manually slipstream SP1 to a CD, or get an MS CD with SP1 integrated, and see if that gives the same results.I doubt I'll be tracking this down myself just now, but if you find the problem, I'll add the solution to XPCREATE. BeenThereB4
Wow, GreenMachine! I've used the XP version for a while and have come to expect perfection, but today I had occasion to make a Win2000 CD. It was just too good to be true, the way you integrated the IE6 is icing on the cake. I stand in awe!!
Alanoll
nice isn't it?takes all the manual labor out of it.....I shall test this today or tomorrow along with that pesky DX patch....
GreenMachine
Well, I was impressed! (But I like tooting my own horn.)The best part is ... the DX patch works fine as well. 2000 boots first time needing nothing. Go figure ...

ente
@BaTLeZone: no problem for you. the line was just ment to tell you that you don't have SWFLASH or there was a problem with one of its components. I suppose you didn't download the file. To avoid this, you could open the XPCREATE.CMD in an editor and replace all instances of SHOWMSS with SHOWMESS. I think GM will fix this very fast. GreenMachine
It was a non-fatal typo. Fixed: current version is 11 JUNE 2004 (I think ... )SWFLASH will NOT work in XPCREATE/WIN2K. Before changing the code, re-read the EULA you accepted on install ...
