WINXP SP1

Featured Replies

When u install the SP1 it brands the desktop (I think Paint is the correct term). I have uninstalled (for a different reason) and can not get rid of the - Windows XP Home Edition For testing purposes only Buld xxxx - message. I have done the normal stuff including TweakUI, Tweak all, and even checked out the registry. We do have a theme installed... and deleting that didn't even help.

Active desktop has been both on and off to no avail.

Any other suggestions?

Gord :)

i'm not sure of this, but you might have to wait for the final version of sp1 to clear that off..

This is beta software anyway so you shouldn't be installing it on your main workstation, and i'm guessing you did...

So for now, all i can say is wait for microsoft to release the final (which shouldn't be long from now) and that should get rid of it

I know there is an option in TweakUI to do that, but if u have tried that already, i don't know what to tell you man.. :)

Release Date for RTM XP SP1 is August 15th

Release Date for RTM Win2k SP3 is July 25th

hey blakelyg,

i just found out how to do it, you just need to download this small batch file, and run it, then that text should be gone

Thanks to Neowin for this one :)

rm.bat

I installed the beta SP1 but I don't have any text that says "for testing purposes only".

Blackwar,

Dose the batch file rm.bat remove the text or the service pack?
