Daniel Lamarre
I installed W2k3, everything went well. But now I want to continue the installation (from the admin desktop), but I get this error saying:Impossible to execute DCPromo because the SYSVOL partition is not formatted on the NTFS file system.I get that error when it comes to Domain Configuration. What if I don't need the domain - how do I get past it?

Marsden
<<What if I don't need the domain - how do I get past it? >>You don't... DCPromo is for setting up Active Directory. First thing it does is install DNS and then AD. SYSVOL is a function of AD.If you don't want a Domain then don't run DCPromo.
diluxp
DCpromo cant run on Fat32 as it needs security of database it keeps and ntfs is secured file system and Dc promo can Run on it only. After all Microsoft is trying to develop a NOS.
Daniel Lamarre
Finally I figured it out; it was just bad settings in the config, but I don't know why it gave me that NTFS error, it didn't have anything to do with it. I had 2 active NTFS partitions, so I guess it was just messed up.So I set up the domain and everything works fine... for that part
ButlerKevinD
Check out MCSE World by Daniel Petri. The guy that runs that site has tons of step by step info on setting up Windows 2000/2003 AD, Exchange, ect.
