SaintPeter Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 The most common feature I use of the Windows Start Menu (and therefore StartIsBack) is tapping the windows key and then typing the name of the program that I want to run. I then hit "enter" to run it. I noticed with the latest version of StartIsBack that the search is no longer instant. It takes 6-7 seconds to find anything, even if it's visible at the very top of the menu. My expectation is that anything which is in my Start Menu should come back instantaneously, while any file searching could take longer (and populate later). I've attached a video which shows my start menu coming up, with Notion on the top of the list. I type "notion" into the search bar and it takes about 7 seconds for it to show up in the search. I'm pretty sure that this is only with the latest version of StartIsBack, because I use that feature daily and I never noticed it being slow until now. I didn't see any obvious settings in the config that might affect this. Please help? StartIsBackSlowSearch.mp4
Tihiy Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Honestly no idea how search works. Try running search troubleshooter?
SaintPeter Posted November 27, 2024 Author Posted November 27, 2024 This is not so much "search" as the live filter of the start menu. Are you saying that you didn't implement this at all? It's not clear to me if you're just displaying controls that already exist, or if you've built a "new" start menu that works the same way as the old one.
Tihiy Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 That's Windows Search as is, black box per se.
