awkduck
Rebooting Windows, from safe mode, I am prompted with the "Wait, End Task, Cancel" window. The title is "Multimedia Input Serivce". In "Process Explorer" I see nothing running, except the bare safe mode minimum. No applications/services initiated, from start-up/registry. pangoomis
HID means USB keyboards/mice/audio cards/whatever. Have any USB devices? Does this error occur even without any USB devices plugged in? Try removing USB controllers in Device Manager/disabling USB in BIOS.

pangoomis
But MMHID.DLL is related to USB, look at HIDDEV.INF Curiously, I can't find MMHID.DLL in CAB files in 98SE, is it only in 98FE? Is @awkduck using 98FE?

The way Microsoft names its .DLL's and how some of them may well have "mixed contents" is another thing. jaclaz Edited May 25, 2023 by jaclaz Renoved space before a comma, it was a typo
