17-year-old Juliane Koepcke was sucked out of an airplane after it was struck by lightning in 1971. She fell 2 miles to the ground, was strapped to her seat, and survived 10 days in the Amazon Jungle.

More than 60% of men in their 20s (18-29) are single…

62b5db78-ff81-4526-94d8-80e063af04b7_129

The new, post-COVID numbers would surely back up previous research that the pandemic has made men prefer an evening alone instead of actually meeting a partner.

Just half of single men as a whole responded that they are “looking for a committed relationship and/or casual dates,” a decrease compared to 61% four years ago.

But these statistics tell a sadder truth about this generation of men, NYU psych professor Niobe Way told the outlet.

“We’re in a crisis of connection,” Way said. “Disconnection from ourselves and disconnection from each other. And it’s getting worse.”

The male numbers come sharply juxtaposed to the 34% of women under 30 who now say they’re single — which has seen only a slight pandemic rise in that age group.

Another factor at play might be the interests of women changing — especially as suitors of the same age are becoming apparently less desirable, experts said.

“[Women would] rather go to brunch with friends than have a horrible date,” LA couples and family psychologist Greg Matos said.

Men watching porn has impacted the way that they date, experts say.

The expectations of American men are also rising in the minds of women, according to masculinity expert and University of Akron professor Ronald Levant, who added that “unfortunately, so many men don’t have more to give.”

But perhaps the largest issue now with young men — one highly impacting their social abilities — is that they are, as a whole, more lonely people than women, a recent study showed.

In the early 1990s, 55% of men were reported to have six or more close friends. That percentage dwindled down to 27 in 2021, according to the American Perspectives Survey. Now, 15% of men say they have no close personal friendships, data compiled by the Survey Center on American Life found.

Young men have less of a dating desire at the same time when reports show they have fewer friends as well.

“Women form friendships with each other that are emotionally intimate, whereas men do not,” said Levant.

Even while not dating, “[women] have girlfriends they spend time with and gain emotional support from.”

From comments section:

"Friendships were much deeper before the Internet and social media. People spoke to each other; you could see them; talked to them; they showed up! Their ethics were different. This is exactly right!"

"Been married for 48 years and have grown closer to my wife each decade. Each of us still has lots of work to do. As I see it there are three parties in my marriage: my wife, God and me. It is a triangle with God at the top and she and I on the bottom. As each of us grows closer to God (going up our respective sides of the triangle) we automatically grow closer to each other.

Spiritual growth means learning to be more honest, more humble, and more caring. Spiritual growth also builds stronger character, including being willing to stand up, and sacrifice, for what is right.

The best husbands are not weak. They are strong in the right ways. And the best wives are those who have learned to follow Christ’s leadership in their lives. For those in bad marriages, you can’t change your spouse. But even if one partner grows as a person and the other partner continues down a bad path, the marriage is more likely to improve. Few marriages break up because one of the two partners is too good or too caring."

"It is too bad, these statistics show how society declined. A young man who finds a likely lifetime mate, a woman with whom there is compatibility, should get married. I was married at 25, my wife was 22. We have been married for 53 years, and have two sons and a daughter. I like the married life. It is a matter of finding the right woman, and being mature and loving. We also share faith in God, the most important thing which binds us together."

"As addictive, fun, and useful the Internet has become, I think it's causing great harm to society as a whole. It's heartbreaking. We will never again enjoy the innocence of previous generations."

Exercise is more effective than medication for mental health (depression, postpartum, anxiety...): study

By Brooke Kato

February 24, 2023 3:24pm

A run a day keeps the depression away.

Researchers from the University of South Australia have discovered regular exercise may be more effective than medication for the treatment of mental illness, such as depression.

Published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, the study used 97 reviews, 1,039 and 128,119 participants, marking it as one of the most extensive pieces of research to date. Based on their findings, they concluded that exercise improved symptoms of depression and anxiety.

“Physical activity is known to help improve mental health. Yet despite the evidence, it has not been widely adopted as a first-choice treatment,” lead researcher Dr. Ben Singh said in a statement.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 50% of Americans will be diagnosed with some sort of mental health problem or disorder in their lifetime, and 1 in 5 will experience it in a given year.

In the adult patients who were reviewed in the study, researchers discovered physical activity could improve their symptoms of anxiety and depression.

The agency lists counseling, medication, psychotherapy and rehabilitation as possible remedies to mental illness – but not exercise.

Professor Carol Maher, one of the study’s researchers, claimed that the research is the first of its kind to evaluate how any kind of physical activity could impact psychological disorders and distress in adults, hoping it can serve as a guideline for clinicians.

“Examining these studies as a whole is an effective way to for clinicians to easily understand the body of evidence that supports physical activity in managing mental health disorders,” she said. “We hope this review will underscore the need for physical activity, including structured exercise interventions, as a mainstay approach for managing depression and anxiety.”

While the study is not the first to determine such a link, it is one of the first, most comprehensive reviews.

Study authors found that intervals of exercise 12 weeks or less were most effective for improving symptoms related to mental illness, suggesting that even small changes for a short period of time could have beneficial effects.

While higher-intensity exercises had “greater improvements for depression and anxiety,” all kinds of physical activity could “significantly reduce symptoms.”

The groups who most benefited from increased physical activity were patients with depression, women who were pregnant or postpartum, people with kidney disease, HIV-positive individuals and even people who were totally healthy.

While any kind of physical activity was beneficial, researchers determined that higher-intensity workouts were most effective.

“We also found that all types of physical activity and exercise were beneficial, including aerobic exercise such as walking, resistance training, pilates and yoga,” Singh said.

“Importantly, the research shows that it doesn’t take much for exercise to make a positive change to your mental health.”

Please show this video to every young person you know who might be considering a "gender transition"

Daniel Payne

··Feb 24, 2023 · NottheBee.com

One of the most powerful tools in our arsenal against the transgender zeitgeist is the people who have suffered through it and who can bluntly tell of us its terrible effects (video on the original link, please)...

There's a whole lot more ways to counteract transgenderism, but this is a great, basic start:

Cross-sex hormones are poison to one's body.

Mutilating one's body will not heal your pain; it will only make it worse.

It's okay to be atypical. You don't have to undergo irreversible surgery or poisonous synthetic hormone injections because you're not quite like your peers!

The tide is turning. We can save more and more people from this awful ideology. Don't wait to do it.

Unprecedented flesh-rotting drug "tranq" is spreading to cities across the U.S., turning users into "real-life zombies"

Jesse James

··Feb 25, 2023 · NottheBee.com

[Warning: Graphic and disturbing]

There's a new drug infiltrating cities across the U.S. and it's simply horrifying...

https://notthebee.com/article/unprecedented-skin-rotting-drug-tranq-is-spreading-across-the-us

...and from another site:

"The drug can cause raw wounds on the user’s skin that can spread rapidly with repeated exposure. It starts with ulcers, hardens into dead skin called eschar, and if left untreated, can result in amputation."

"Consumers of illegal drugs are dissatisfied. Those who have used the "zombie drug" have said that it has taken away "any kind of joy" that comes with getting high, according to the New York Post.

"I’d wake up in the morning crying because my arms were dying," Tracey McCann, who developed wounds near her opioid injection sites, told the New York Times.

"Tranq is zombifying people’s bodies," another user told Sky News. "Until nine months ago, I never had wounds. Now, there are holes in my legs and feet." "

HAND OF GOD? - Weekly World News

BOSTON, MA - What is this unearthly shape spotted in the night sky?

Laura Barber

Nasa Pictures

b1509.jpg

"God's Hand" The image, taken by NASA's space-based Chandra Observatory telescope, shows an X-ray nebula 150 light years across. NASA says the display is caused by a young and powerful pulsar, known by the rather prosaic name of PSR B1509-58.The finger-like structures are apparently caused by "energizing knots of material in a neighboring gas cloud," NASA says. The figure is in fact a pulsar, called PSR B1509-58, which is about 12 miles across and 17,000 light years away.
