Code 39 error when installing drivers

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to get Vista installed on my HP Pavilion 14 but can't get the GPU, wifi and bluetooth drivers to work. When I install them they throw a code 39 error even though they all work fine on XP. I'm using this fully updated vista iso.

Specs:
i3-3217U

Intel HD 4000 graphics

Broadcom BCM943228HMB

there's a big step between XP and Vista, so you need to find old Windows 7 drivers. I managed to install the graphic card in my case using a version of DriverMagician.

Try using NTOSKRNL Emu_Extender and compile the ntoskrn8.sys for Vista

And you have to edit the target .sys file's import directory from CFF Explorer by renaming "ntoskrnl.exe" to "ntoskrn8.sys"

Don't forget to always use "Disable driver signature enforcement" F8 boot option every startup

you can find a driver for the igpu hd4000 at the bottom the first post

That's the one I tried and it just showed code 39. I tried extracting the driver and installing but still no dice. I do remember it working before when installing on a clean SP2 iso without updates so I have a feeling it might be that.

i made that iso (also you should remove that link; it's against the rules) but i don't remember if i updated the root certificates because that can cause some drivers to not work (at least on my laptop)
it's better to just install standalone updates with dism++
