yoltboy01 Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Sup guys! I was testing some older Beta Builds a few weeks ago and I came across a video which shows leftovers of the Windows 8.1 Start Screen in Windows 10 RTM (10240). It is said that Microsoft didn‘t remove all the code, but rather hide it, till they got rid of it in 1511. So my question is: Is it possible to somehow get/install Windows 8.1‘s Start Screen in recent versions of Windows 10? I love 8.1‘s design, but 10‘s App compatibility is far better, that‘s why I’d like to create a mixture of both of them Video (don‘t know if I‘m allowed to post links here but anyway): 2

mina7601 Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 The best I found that can do this is WinMetro. It doesn't exactly return Windows 8.1 start screen, but at least an alternative. Maybe someone else can come up with a better solution than me. Note: You must run WinMetro setup installer in Windows 7 compatibility mode to install it. The application itself runs fine. (it also asks to install additional software once setup completes, don't install them.)
