Problem adding Ultimate Boot CD v2.21 to BCDW

Featured Replies

When I add Ultimate Boot CD v2.21 to my multiboot BCDW CD everything is fine. But now I need to put it on a DVD and I get an error reading from CD/DVD prompt.

Any Ideas how to fix this problem ?

maybe you could post your 'cure' and then other users with the same problem can fix it same as you :)

@all

solution:

Adding Ulitmate Boot CD v2.21 to your bcdw menu

instruction:

1.) make a folder to the root of your bootdvd or bootcd on hdd: ubcd

2.) then extract the hole iso of Ultimate Boot Cd to the folder: ubcd

3.) now you have to patch the loader.bin in the folder \ubcd\boot with a hexeditor

then scroll down and add that entry: /ubcd/boot

4.) now you have to do only one thing - add an entry in bcdw.ini or cdshell.ini

5.) add this parameter to bcdw.ini:

\ubcd\boot\loader.bin ; Ultimate Boot CD v2.21 ; ^ Start Ultimate Boot CD 2.21

Now make the iso with cdimage and test it with virtual pc or vmware.

Look at my Multiboot DVD

I have integrated follow stuffs:

Hi!

I have a question concerning the bcdw plugin for cdshell.

i added these lines to my cdshell.ini

if $lastKey == key[3]; then bcdw /isolinux/isolinux.bin

if $lastKey == key[4]; then bcdw /images/trueim7.WBT

if $lastKey == key[5]; then bcdw /ubcd/boot/loader.bin

key 3 is to start knoppix. it works

keys 4 and 5 are to start True Image 7 German and UltimateBootCD 2.21 don't work.

I always get an error message.

"Error: File not found.

[Command: bcdw] [Line: 92.2] [File: cdshell.ini]"

3.) now you have to patch the loader.bin in the folder \ubcd\boot with a hexeditor

then scroll down and add that entry: /ubcd/boot

i changed the entry /boot to /ubcd/boot with a hex editor. is this correct?

Isn't it possible with the bcdw plugin to start different images like the standalone application does?

I did it different. I just extracted my images dir from ultimatebootcd to my AIO and then loaded the images individually. Saves some space.

Yeah, that would be a possibility.

But every time a new version of ubcd is released, you have to check that all links are correct.

Is there a easier way to integrate the ubcd to the AIO dvd using cdshell (and bcdw plugin)?

i got it. it works perfect now.

i had updated the files from cdshell to the newer version (2.0.15b beta) before. it doesn't works woth bcdw plugin anymore???

now i have the good old cdshell 2.0.11

and now everything works fine

if $lastKey == key[3]; then bcdw /isolinux/isolinux.bin

if $lastKey == key[4]; then bcdw /images/trueim7.WBT

if $lastKey == key[5]; then bcdw /ubcd/boot/loader.bin <---after editing with /ubcd/boot AND moving all images from /ubcd/images/ to /images/

Now the following options are running on my AIO-DVD

Windows 2000 Prof SP4 (unattended AND standard setup)

Windows XP Prof SP1 Corporate (unattended AND standard setup)

Windows 2003 Advanced Server Corporate (unattended AND standard setup)

Knoppix 3.4

Ultimate Boot CD v2.21

Norton Ghost 8 Corporate

Partition Magic 8 German

Acronis Partition Expert 8 German

Acronis True Image 8 German

office 2003/office xp with sp1-3 and exchange 2003 and some smaller apps are also on the dvd to fill it.

Thanks to Markymoo, Webjunkie and of course to flyakite

The only problem still left is the bootscreen of knoppix when starting ghost8 or partition magic 8 :)

------------------------------------------------------------------

Norton Ghost 8 Corporate doesn't boot correctly on 'real computer startup' (in vmware it works!!) and freezes when starting (it doesn't matter if started via bcdw or memdisk (diskemu yet not tested).

I have a ASUS A7N8X Deluxe with 2 Seagate PATA HDDs and a NEC 1300 A DVD Burner. No Serial ATA or something activated. I don't think my hardware is such special that Ghost could have problems.

The next "problem" is the bootscreen of knoppix. everything started via memdisk (i think diskemu too) has this problem. but only if there is bcdw used anywhere in the cdshell.ini

can someone acknowledge?

A lesson learnt. Don't use betas unless absolutely necessary. I am using 2.0.11

ultimatebootcd has the sense to use cdshell now.

You can always take a look and use my cdshell script it runs 27 operating systems plus utils.

Hi!

Thank you.

The link doesn't work (forum temp down?). Could you attach it here?

Just for info, Ultimate Boot CD Ver 2.3 is released.

---------------------------------------------------

The link works now.

i got another easy way to implement the ubcd 2.31

just hexedited the loader.bin to /ubcd/boot and edited the cdshell.ini with notepad.

i changed all entries from images/ to ubcd/images/

that's enough to boot the disk images.

the dosapps folder has to be in root, i think.

mcafee and fprot don't work :)

that's one of my problems at the moment.

i think the rest of the dosapps won't work also. i haven't tested yet, cause the lack of time.

the other "problem" is, bcdw doesn't boot my ghost correctly. it can't write to disk?!? with memdisk it works, but then there's the knoppix crap again.
