Laptop battery

Hi!

I just bought a laptop HP pavillion zd7000 and I installed its battery and charged it up.

The first day when I turned off (after finished charging the battery) the battery light stayed on.

Now even if I use my laptop and the battery gets charged I cant turn it on with the battery just with a power supply.

and the battery icon alwasy says 88%

What should I do?Plz?

If it's brand new and you bought it from an online retailer/store, return it- it's obviously defective. If it's an older HP laptop and you bought it off ebay- then sorry to say but you're out of luck. It'd cost more to repair the battery than to buy a whole new laptop, I'm afraid.

My battery for a 6 - 7 year old Toshiba Satellite Laptop cost me around $250 CAD...
