When silently installing the Windows Messenger program using the command:

start /wait %SystemDrive%\Install\MSN\Messenger.msi /qb!

it still wants to access the internet ..

Anyone know why this occurs and is there a way to prevent this behavior?

Thanks

Is this MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger? Your topic says Windows, but your folder name is MSN.

For me, MSN Messenger doesn't start until the desktop loads.

Oops..

I'm installing Windows Messenger v5.0.0482.

When it installs on the first GUI boot, it wants to connect to the internet (why ??). This is what I'm trying to avoid..

Thanks

I personally prefer Windows Messenger 4.7 over any other version of Messenger, but it seems to have a couple problems (most notably I have difficult sending/receiving files to and from some people) that force me to use MSN Messenger 6.1 :)

I Had some problems durring the unatented installation... after applying the updates via the svcpack.inf file. Durring the T-13min mark, windows Messager would pop up asking me to sign in, just like the first time you install windows xp when the desktop would load up.

its very annoying, but if i just leave it alone, and let it continue, it seems to be fine.

does anyone else have this happen to them? do you think a task kill would do it?

by the way how would i do a task kill on that?? i read the microsoft article explaining task kill, but i don't understand all of it. maybe i'm just too stupid :)

thanks in advance
