Is it just antivirus homepages you can't access? This is blamed on a virus blocking access to these sites, so your machine is probably infected.

check your hosts file or go onto www.filemirrors.com the latest virus updates are usually there

its a virus. you may have removed the virus from your system, but as jono said your hosts file is still blocking those sites. you will need to remove the anti virus sites and microsoft update from there.

Update your anitvirus definitions and scan your PC!

how do I check my host file? What is it anyway?

BTW, I've disabled some of my services at services.msc. Could this be the problem?

I have BitDefender AV

Outpost V2 Pro firewall

Adaware

-> all latest and scanned with it.

Open %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts in Notepad

That is the purpose of an antivirus scanner, to catch viruses, why would you want another?
