Sometimes when I turn on my computer, it doesn't start up, it just displays a black screen for a long time after the windows xp logo with the green bar has finished loading.

Did it previously crash the last time you used it?

I have this old problem on the AMD machine. If it ever BSODs, it will fail to load up Windows (any version) on the next boot up. The only solution I had was to turn it off completely, then back on.

Never managed to find what was causing it though.

ok this thing is stupid but i got it on both my intel p4 and atlon xp 2.5+

happens at boot, i'm guessing due to a driver.. or a device..

Use Bootvis to see whats hanging maybe?

Mine used to take forever and it said it was USB driver delay in Bootvis. 822603 fixed it for me.

It's not a restarting or shut down problem, it's a turning on computer problem. but thanks for that website!
