is Windows 7 faster with SP1 or not?

Is Windows 7 without SP1 any faster then with it?, I'm trying it out and It feels a bit faster? not sure if there is a difference.

Yes/No/Maybe.

if you're using ordinary magnetic hard drive, then its slower with SP1 (but that is like in miliseconds ? ) - depends how old it is

if you're on SSD then its the same

 

SP1 only gives hotfixes, not features or tweaks, but with that it also increases number of some system files

hence why ordinary HDD has to seek/read more

 

then again if you tweak it yourself (SP1) it can be faster than originally shipped

just like XP did via nLite
