Datalore Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 You need Microsoft ActiveSync to interface with your PocketPC.(To download, click your language and then accept the agreement. Alternatively, you can click here)

strekship Posted April 4, 2004 Author Posted April 4, 2004 Am i really missing anything by not being able to upgrade to 2003?
Datalore Posted April 4, 2004 Posted April 4, 2004 It depends on what you use your PocketPC for.Windows Mobile 2003: What's new?Operating system core updated to WinCE 4.2 The older PocketPC 2002 OS was built around the 3.0 version of the Windows CE 'kernel', or operating system core code. WM2003 is based on the newest 4.2 version. While only time will tell for certain whether it lives up to the promises, the newer kernel offers better stability, faster speeds, and improved support for advanced functions. Initial reports are sketchy, but it seems that the claims of better speed are well founded.Native support for Bluetooth and WiFi This includes beaming PIM entries via Bluetooth, a new Bluetooth Partnership Wizard, native Bluetooth modem/phone support, and other smaller improvements.Improved networking Zero-configuration connection support for wireless, ethernet, and phone lines, multiple VPNs, an improved Connection Manager GUI, IPv6 support, and other improvements combine to greatly simplify the process of connecting a PocketPC to various networks.New version of Pocket Internet Explorer It's a fairly well-known fact that PocketIE is slow and hogs resources. WM2003, however, includes a new version which decreases memory requirements, increases performance, and supports XHTML, CSS, and IPv6. This new browser is supposed to be related to Internet Explorer 6 for desktop PCs, and reportedly performs much like it as well.Deactivation of wireless radios While some Bluetooth cards allow you to turn off card's wireless capabilities to save power, the new OS extends this ability to all wireless cards. This means that users who perennially keep a WiFi card in their PocketPC won't have to physically remove it if they want to save on battery life.Improved multimedia support The new OS includes the player for Windows Media 9, a built-in picture viewing program, and improved video playback.
