Trying to install Windows 98 SE

Featured Replies

Hello, I am new and can tell I'm going to like this place :). I am trying to install windows 98 SE on an older computer. I went through the installation process and when it rebooted it gave me an error that I had insufficient memory. I did some research and found out that even on SE if you have 1 GB or more of RAM it will throw this error. The microsoft article prompted me to modify a system.ini file, but I don't have one in my Windows 98 Installation directory. I tried creating the file using command line according to microsofts articles and it kept giving errors. I finally gave up and typed one in and I still get there. What's going on here?

Which has exactly two Topics on the subject. You'd be amazed that so many users have nGig of RAM installed. I have 2GiB myself. It's not as hard as you think.
