Getting ethernet to work

Recommended Posts

Since getting back on cable-praise the Lord! I'm not using 56k anymore which had win2k drivers, the problem is

on my Biostar g41d3c motherboard, the device manager says the ethernet is 'Atheros AR8152/8158 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20).

The last time I tried to make it work, I couldn't install the thing-even with extended kernel! Is there an older driver for this Ethernet device that's usable?

To all - links to stuff makes it convenient so we (the helpers) don't have to do all the legwork.

Searching now...

edit - downloaded the package....

(NDIS 6.20)
Above (yours) is Windows 7 driver - HAS to be! At the LEAST you should have been trying the XP/2003 one. Edited by submix8c

Avoid Atheros if you plan to use Windows 2000. I've tried everything to get the driver work in Windows 2000 but nothing worked. In the end I had to use an old PCI card instead.

Among the popular manufacturers, Realtek is the one that still officially supports Windows 2000 in their drivers.
