April 7, 201412 yr Author Have you installed the large 8.1 update? Does it fix it?Well no. It is not available yet. Whatever it was I downloaded last week (titled Windows 8.1 Update) was not, in fact, Windows 8.1 Update 1.
April 7, 201412 yr Author I'll test it on Win 8.1 Update 1.EDIT: It is on MSDN. It looks like there is an update for Server 2012 R2 as well. Edited April 7, 201412 yr by Tripredacus
April 15, 201412 yr Author I haven't seen it in Windows 8.1 Update 1 yet. I haven't gotten around to integrating Server 2012 R2.
April 16, 201412 yr Author Update: This is NOT fixed after applying Update 1 to Server 2012 R2 Standard. I was able to get the Explorer Application error by opening PowerShell prompt from the taskbar and initiating a restart using the Ctrl+X menu as before.
April 17, 201412 yr Sounds like a Bug. Nothing you can do about it. Maybe microsft will fix it in a service pack later on. Windows is always like this until a couple serivce packs comes out with any new OS sadly. Thats why I quit upgrading until the next os has fully matured. Ill stick with 2008 for the time being.
