March 19, 200422 yr do u have a server running 2k??? Or a router??? because i dunno of any DHCP software that's free... if u can find one great, but I would stick to the Windows 2K DHCP server it's pretty good. Even the software in a router, it's pretty simple. :/
March 19, 200422 yr Author Hi there, all pc's are win98 or win xp. the router we have for the adsl for net is crap if you know what i mean, some pcs have 2 have static ip's where the others can be dynamic.
March 19, 200422 yr If you have a spare low-spec box lying around, you can run a small NAT and DHCP distro such as IPCop, and run your internet connection through it. It's pretty solid.
June 4, 200422 yr check your router for firmware upgrades, a new one ,might do dhcp and allow for statics as well
June 22, 200422 yr Here is a guide on setting up your server as a DHCP server.http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/DHCP/index.html
August 17, 200422 yr Im with steve. Try and upgrade your firmware. If your using linksys u better do that now because linksys isnt very efficent without that firmware upgrade. But i dont no bout other routers. Good luck//
