Can some one please help me by telling me what the best DHCP server software to get it must be free or almost free, and i need to give some pc's a static ip and some dynamic ip all pc's are running win xp sp1 or win98se

do u have a server running 2k??? Or a router??? because i dunno of any DHCP software that's free... if u can find one great, but I would stick to the Windows 2K DHCP server it's pretty good. Even the software in a router, it's pretty simple. :/

Hi there, all pc's are win98 or win xp. the router we have for the adsl for net is crap if you know what i mean, some pcs have 2 have static ip's where the others can be dynamic.

If you have a spare low-spec box lying around, you can run a small NAT and DHCP distro such as IPCop, and run your internet connection through it. It's pretty solid.

Im with steve. Try and upgrade your firmware. If your using linksys u better do that now because linksys isnt very efficent without that firmware upgrade. But i dont no bout other routers. Good luck//
