ARGH! Help! The latest batch of patch tuesday for windows 8 have arrived and it's been nothing but trouble! For the most part manually downloading did solve my problem but not for the love of god of trying and I still getting stuck with a 80070020 message. I tried the solutions even tried repairing windows update but alas no luck so far :(

Was going to include an attachment but I getting a SQL error

EDIT: The particulair update is KB2785094 and keeps getting stuck at 15% Then failing. Every other update before that was failing too but fixed most of them

The failure should be noted in the Windows Update log file:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902093

Also there may be something worthwhile in Event Viewer.

What was your attachment? Do you have a SkyDrive account or other file hosting service you could upload the file to? If it is a picture you can use Photobucket or Flickr or something.

The log file is going to be too big to post. Open the file up, scroll all the way down to the bottom. Then do a search, type KB2785094 in the box, and choose "Up" radio button. You'll have to scroll up a little more but you should be able to find the portion of the log file that relates to that update, and it should have the error there.

For Event Viewer, look for any errors or warnings related to Windows Update and/or the installation of that update.

Sorry about a delay in responding. I'm going to have to come back to this a bit later today as I have some things to do but I obviously have some sort of problem somewhere here as updates in the store are not installing either for me. Getting a error message 0x8007064a (and that's free apps alone not updating) I'll have to have a glance at things later on and see what I can find. Hate computers when they decide to go wonky. ;) When I get in i'll have a look and see what I can figure out

Well you've got the link to the MSU there. Have you tried manually installing it?

Tried that yeah and it still failed. Worrying that the store updates are failing on me too. That can't be a good thing.

Which AV tool do you run? Do a clean boot without any 3rd party tools/services and try to install the updates.
