bookie32 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Hi guys OK! here is the case....lolI have been looking at converting wim's to vhd's in order to run them in Hyper-V...I heard there was a nice script for this and downloaded it...hereI then saw at the script had been rewritten to work on Powershell 3.0 and upgraded to that on my Windows Server 2008r2..I didn't get any errors installing Powershell 3.0 and thought everything was OK..... I like user interfaces...lol and this guy wrote about the script containing a guiI ran the user interface command from Powershell 3.0:.\Convert-WindowsImage.ps1 -ShowUII received the following error which seems to point to a problem with netframework:Windows(R) Image to Virtual Hard Disk Converter for Windows(R) 8Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. jaclaz Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Well, it is nice to know that I get told now that I need windows 8.... I may add that my "dinosaur's era" windows 2K and XP installs are as outdated as your newish Windows 7/Server 2008 R2 ones..... jaclaz
bookie32 Posted September 8, 2012 Author Posted September 8, 2012 Hi again!Well, I could use the script and convert my wim to a vhd.....BUTMaybe this:http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/wim2vhd/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=2603will work allright .jaclazIs it necessary to sysprep the wim before converting to vhd.....because I am getting a BSOD with 0x0000007b which suggest driver problems...?If I don't need to sysprep the wim file - then maybe I need to inject ms drivers into the wim before converting to vhd?I am just guessing here and would appreciate some feed back.....Thanks!bookie32
bookie32 Posted September 8, 2012 Author Posted September 8, 2012 Hi again!Just a little update... the wim image I was converting wasn't sysprepped, so I added the motherboard drivers for the computer the image came from and then it was OK Thanks!bookie32
