slennon1972
When launching this file, I expected to be taken to Windows Installer toinstall the application so that I could begin using it to determine if itwill satisfy my needs. Instead, I had the following experiences:In all instances I was given the options to "cancel", "save", or to "find aprogram online to open it".In two cases, I attempted to find a program online to open it. In eachcase, I was diverted to the Windows File Association screen and offeredalternatives for finding a program that could run this file. Windows had nosuggestions of what application I should use.In two other cases, I saved the file to my hard disk. The file saved eachtime was "ProjectProfessional.img". When I attempted to launch this file, Iwas diverted to the Windows File Association screen and offered alternativesfor finding a program that could run this file. Windows had no suggestionsof what application I should use. Thanks, i'm not a very tech savvy guy so if you have a solution to this problem it would be appreciated. jaclaz
Read Number 3 on the instructions here!Well, I guess an "average user" wouldn't go very far from there, actually they say substantially to go to (if you haven't already got a suitable software) :Expand the ProjectProfessional.IMG file to a blank CD using the software of your choice. If you do not already have software to do this, we suggest you look at Windows Marketplace and choose from the list displayed.http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/where obviously you CANNOT find a suitable tool, actually NO tool whatever. @slennon1972Translated from Microsoftish the sentence:Expand the ProjectProfessional.IMG file to a blank CD using the software of your choice. If you do not already have software to do this, we suggest you look at Windows Marketplace and choose from the list displayed.means more or less:We decided to misname (as usual) a perfectly normal and standard ISO 9660 CD image (for which everyone else uses the .iso extension) as .img (which is the extension everyone else uses for disk images) that you can burn (translation of "expand") with *any* app that you probably already have connected to "CD burning" like bundled with your CD/DVD writer or however that you can find *anywhere* (once you understand that there is NOTHING to EXPAND but a .iso image to burn). Additionally, but we won't tell you this, you don't actually need a CD or DVD writer at all, nor any optical media, as you can well use a "virtual CD" driver, such as IMDISK, or Virtual CloneDriveSome links:Burner:http://www.imgburn.com/Virtual CD drivers:http://www.ltr-data.se/opencode.html/http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.htmlMost probably you can also simply open the stoopid IMG ISO in 7-zip, extracts contents to a folder on hard disk and install from there. But anyway, your question should have been "I cannot find any tool to "expand" the ".img" file I downloaded from here:http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=20599What program application should I use/do you advise to do this?jaclaz
