it has a 3com 3c920 lan card and have found rwu settings (im guessing its remote wake up) but cant get it to work

WHERE did you find these settings?

HOW did you set them?

Generally speaking, to have WOL working with lan cards (not the ones integrated in the motherboard) often a cable need to be connected from the card to the motherboard.

found the settings in the advance tab of the lan card properties

RWU ARP

RWU Macic pkt

RWU ping

standby RWU Macic pkt

standby RWU pattern

set them to enabled

and ticked the allow this device to bring out of standby

also enabled wol in bios

forwarded port to the computer ( i have a Thomson TG782T )

opened ports in firewall

its an integrated 3com 3c920 (3C905-TX Compatible)

iv read this and created a reg entry to input these settings

http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/network-internet-wireless/f/3324/t/17164681.aspx

basically everything that needs to be done should be but i still cant get it to work

unsure if im able to get the packets through the router to the computer or if i havent set the computer up properly

how do i make sure the packets are getting to the computer? i have tried using the remote desktop port as i know this works but nothings happening

on the wol client im using on my phone it keeps saying host not found

Good :), which means "bad".

Some settings should be ENABLED; some DISABLED :unsure::

RWUARP = "ENABLE"

RWULink = "DISABLE"

RWUMagic = "ENABLE"

RWUPING = "DISABLE"

What happens when you send a magic packet?

What are the settings in your BIOS?

Review this:

The page you mention has a link to an old article that can be found here:

do you have such an utility as TCAUDIAG ? (part of windiags from 3com), some more info here:

As far as i know, WOL use usually udp and not tcp as protocol and ports 7 or 9. Did you configure you router to redirect those udp ports ?
