My old laptop has some start up errors. Did some reading and seems may be due to deleted "software reminants " causing an error message which is annoying.

Before resorting to a "clean install" thought would try to solve the problem.

Question: Is unchecking All the Startup files in msconfig the same as booting in "Safe Mode"?

Thanks

Safe Mode involves booting with a minimal set of drivers, I am not sure disabling everything in MSConfig is as bare as booting in safe mode.

What's the error message anyway?

Hi loblo,

Is it possible to post Screen Capture(SC) on the forum? If yes tell me know and I will try to post a SC of the Error Message on the forum.

Thanks again for all your help

Ken

You could attach an image to the post I guess or link to an image you upload to some free image sharing website.

Disabling "everything" in msconfig definetly evacuates 95% of the problems you may get with a corrupt or inadequate installation.

Not as minimal as Safe Mode thought.
